The Academic Council of the Kazakh University of Railways is one of the forms of collegial management of a higher educational institution.

The objectives of the Academic Council are:

Creation of the necessary conditions for students and
faculty, employees of the IUTH with the aim
successful implementation of professional training programs for higher and
postgraduate education, the implementation of research and
teaching activities, professional development and retraining
frames;
Providing financial support, strengthening material
technical base of the University;
Contribution to the further development of the University.
The competence of the Academic Council includes:

definition of the concept of development of the IUTH;
amendments and additions to the IUTH Charter;
creation, reorganization and liquidation of educational and scientific
subdivisions of IUTH (laboratories, departments and others);
decision-making on all fundamental issues of the organization of educational, research and economic activities of the IUTH;
hearing the annual reports of the rector, vice-rectors, heads of structural divisions and on the forms and methods of teaching, research, educational, financial, economic, informational and international activities;
consideration and recommendations for the publication of textbooks and teaching aids, educational and methodological developments and monographs;
making a decision to transfer students from a paid department to an educational grant;
approval of topics and scientific advisers-consultants for undergraduates and doctoral students in dissertation research;
determining the order of using directions
reinvestment of income received by IUTH by providing paid
educational services;
approval and awarding of scientists and honorary titles, nominal
scholarships and awards;
consideration of issues on the nomination of IUTH employees, creative teams for government awards and honorary titles;
approval of working curricula, schedules of the educational process;
approval of internal regulatory documents of the IUTH;
consideration of other issues of the current activities of the IUTH requiring a collegial decision.
Meetings of the Academic Council are held monthly. The Chairman of the Academic Council is granted the right to convene an extraordinary meeting of the Academic Council. More than 11 meetings of the Academic Council per academic year. At each meeting of the Academic Council 4-5 questions are considered.

Composition of the Academic Council

The Academic Council consists of the following positions: President,
vice-rectors, heads of structural divisions, representatives of student and public organizations of the university. The quota of representation in the Academic Council for each structural unit is established by the President. The term of office of the Academic Council of KUPS is 3 years. Changes may be made to its composition as necessary.
